WhoHoopin?!? ("we," "us," or "our") operates the WhoHoopin?!? website and mobile application (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Service.

2. Information We Collect

Account Information

• Name
• Email address
• Password (hashed and encrypted — we never store plain text passwords)
• Date of birth (used for age verification)
• Skill level and playing position (optional profile fields)

OAuth Sign-In

If you sign in using Google or Apple, we receive your name and email address from those providers. We do not receive or store your social media passwords. We may also receive your profile picture URL, though we do not currently display it.

Location Data

With your permission, we collect your device's geographic location to show nearby basketball courts and to help you add new court locations. Location data is used only within the app and is not stored on our servers beyond what is necessary to provide the Service.

Usage Data

• Court check-ins and check-out times
• Run participation (games you create or join)
• Courts you add or favorite
• Push notification device tokens (if you enable notifications)
• Basic analytics data (page views, device type) via Vercel Analytics

3. How We Use Your Information

• To provide and maintain the Service
• To show other users who is currently at a court or signed up for a run
• To match players with nearby courts and games
• To allow run organizers to manage participation and approval requests
• To improve and optimize the Service
• To communicate with you about your account or the Service

4. Visibility of Your Information

When you check in at a court or join a run, your name may be visible to other users of the Service. This is a core feature that helps players find games. You can choose to hide your name when checking in by toggling the "Show my name" option.

Your email address is never displayed publicly to other users.

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate:

• Vercel — Hosting and deployment
• Neon (Vercel Postgres) — Database storage
• Vercel Analytics — Anonymous usage analytics
• Google OAuth — Authentication (if you choose to sign in with Google)
• Apple OAuth — Authentication (if you choose to sign in with Apple)
• Firebase Cloud Messaging — Push notifications for run updates and court activity
• OpenStreetMap / Leaflet — Map display and court locations

Each of these services has its own privacy policy governing their use of your data.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. Check-in records expire automatically (typically within a few hours). Run data is retained for historical purposes but is no longer actively displayed after the scheduled time passes.

You may delete your account and all associated data at any time from your Account Settings page.

7. Data Security

We implement reasonable security measures to protect your personal information, including encrypted passwords, secure HTTPS connections, and JWT-based authentication tokens. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Cookies and Tokens

We use session cookies and JSON Web Tokens (JWTs) to keep you signed in and to authenticate your requests. These are essential for the Service to function and cannot be disabled while using the app.

9. Children's Privacy

The Service is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.

10. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Delete your account and all associated data via your Account Settings
• Withdraw consent for location sharing at any time (via your device settings)

11. We Do Not Sell Your Data

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We do not share your data with advertisers.
